Thankful Thursday – A Street Scene in Paris, France

I am mainly a landscape and nature photographer, so when I was in Paris, and there were no landscapes to photograph, except the lovely parks there, I, of course, took pictures of street scenes, buildings, and people.  

I am very thankful for the wonderful photographic guide we had in Paris, Sophie Pasquet, owner of Better Paris Photos.  I learned a lot about taking pictures of street scenes and buildings and people and got some wonderful fun shots of Paris.  Thanks so much Sophie!

On a beautiful Fall morning in the Grand Teton National Park, we had already taken photos of the sun rising on the mountains, and then we moved on to this pond and copse of trees.  There were hills and mountains in the background, but I decided to focus on this scene.  I caught this mist rising from one of the ponds.  It was quiet, serene, and just breathtaking to be there.  I would count this as a Tuesday Treasure ~ or an any-day-of-the-week treasure.

Upon our arrival into Paris in July - my first visit to Paris - we chose to eat at a lovely outdoor cafe overlooking this building.  I thought it appropriate for Speechless Sunday photos.

What do you do to cheer yourself up when work or life gets you down?  I go out and take pictures of nature or beautiful places.  Recently, after days and days of rain, I went to the Franklin Park Conservatory to commune with nature at the "Blooms and Butterflies" exhibit.  Little did I know that the butterflies tend to hibernate on cloudy rainy days, but I did manage to get a few photos of some beautiful butterflies, one of which was on a Chihuly glass sculpture in the greenhouse/butterfly exhibit room.

This was taken with a Nikon D300s, a Tamron 18-270 lens, at 270 mm, 1/40 sec f6.3, iso 1600.

I was in St. Thomas for a week at the end of February, and it was sooo lovely to get away from the cold, cloudy, rainy, snowy weather of Central Ohio and enjoy the sunshine and warmth.  I looked at some of the listings in St. Thomas and St. John and thought what a great place that would be to "retire" or even a great place to live -- and sell real estate.  Those of you who are on the west coast or in Hawaii or anywhere that it is warm all year and looks like this - I'm betting you love it!  If you aren't a Realtor and live somewhere like this, I'd love to hear from you too!
