A Winter Day at The Buckeye Ranch
I was driving in Grove City last week on my way to a client's home and passed this lovely row of trees along the driveway leading to the Buckeye Ranch. I stopped to take this photograph and was going to post it without writing anything. But then I thought about what this photo really is about….
I had heard of The Buckeye Ranch but I never paid much attention to what it was or what they did. I decided to look it up online and found the wonderful and touching story of how The Buckeye Ranch was founded in 1961 by a group of local women "who, after searching for the community's greatest need, banded together to dedicate their time and resources to the troubled adolescents of Franklin County."
In order to describe The Ranch, I am borrowing the words from their website: "The Buckeye Ranch has the facilities and the treatment capacity to serve children and adolescents with serious mental health needs, behavioral challenges, and substance use issues." "Every day…girls and boys ages 10-18 are experiencing hope and healing…." Many of the young people served by The Ranch, go on to live very fulfilling lives and serve our communities around the country.
I saw on their website that The Buckeye Ranch needs to raise $5.2 million dollars to fund renovation and expansion needs. What a wonderful cause for our future generation.
