History:
Hilliard, Ohio started out as a 10-acre plot in 1852 and was originally called Hilliard’s Station because of it’s place along the railroad route between the Piqua and Indiana Railroad station. In 1869, Hilliard became incorporated and had a population of 280 residents. Since then, the first railroad station has been decommissioned, but has been restored and is a local attraction as part of Hilliard’s Historical Weaver Park. Today, Hilliard has a much larger population and offers countless amenities to residents and visitors, but still retains it’s original small-town charm. For more information on the history of Hilliard, you can contact the Northwest Franklin County Historical Society, located at 4162 Avery Road, or by phone at 614-777-4852.
