My Unusual Thanksgiving Day

I went to Cleveland to be with my sister, Donna, on Thanksgiving Day.  In the morning we went shopping for food to make ourselves a light Thanksgiving dinner of veggies and salad and turkey for Donna.  Donna has recently started "bird watching" and has taken photos of many rare birds, including a pelican on Lake Erie.  On Thanksgiving Day, Donna found out that there was a rare seagull down at Edgewater Park on Lake Erie, so instead of cooking we went to Edgewater Park to search for a rare seagull (which she found).  Since it was so cold, we took a break and went to Starbucks to get warm and have a sandwich, and then went back and she took more pics of the rare seagull.  While she was searching, I took pics of the seagulls diving for food & caught a few with food in their mouths. Look at the wingspan on these birds.

Seagulls at Edgewater Park

That was my unusual Thanksgiving.  The nicest part was being with my sister!

Good thing the flock wasn't flying over your head.  Love the black outline on the wings of the seagull in the top left photo.

Hi Roberta,

Great photos and it sounds like you and your sister had a special Thanksgiving together. What fun your day must have been and warming up at Starbucks is just the perfect touch. Happy Holidays.

Roberta, what beautiful birds! And good for you for doing a light Thanksgiving dinner - we should adopt that as my family tradition!

Sounds like you had a fun, but unusual Thanksgiving. As long as you enjoyed it...that is all that matters.

Nice photos of Bonaparte's Gulls, Roberta! I did get to photograph and post photos of the very rare Black-headed Gull. I always thought it was important to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but it proved to be ok not to do so for the first time in my life! It was a fun day, and was nice to share it with my sister! Thanks for understanding, sis!

Cindy, Patricia and Than, thanks for stopping in to comment on my photos.  I was very fortunate that these Bonaparte's Gulls were not flying over my head.  It was very slippery on the dock to go out in the middle of them, but I did get pretty close and I did have fun and was with my sister.  That's what is important, you are right.
